How to Watch TheShy's LPL Matches: Streams, Times, and Time Zones

Where to watch IG play live, how LPL start times convert to your time zone, and how to never miss a TheShy series.

Aug 2, 2026LOLTheShy Team

The hardest part of being an LPL fan outside China is not finding a stream — it is doing the time-zone math. This guide covers where to watch TheShy's matches, when they actually start, and how to keep up if you cannot watch live.

Where to watch

English commentary and schedule:

  • lolesports.com — Riot's official schedule. Check the match page for current times and available viewing links.
  • LPL English — a fan-made English-language project with Twitch and YouTube links. It is not Riot's official English broadcast. The official LPL English channel ended in 2025; English coverage moved to community streams and co-streams. Check each channel's current schedule before match day.

Chinese broadcasts:

  • Bilibili — the official LPL live channel on Bilibili, and the highest-quality Chinese stream. No account is required to watch; logging in only unlocks chat, follows, and rewards.
  • Huya and Douyu — the other major Chinese platforms carrying the LPL.

You do not need a Riot account to check the fixture or open the listed streams.

When do LPL matches start?

Most LPL series in the 2026 Split 3 regular season begin around 09:00 UTC, which converts to:

| Time zone | Local start | | ------------------------------ | --------------- | | Beijing (UTC+8) | 17:00 (5:00 PM) | | Central Europe (UTC+2, summer) | 11:00 AM | | US East (UTC-4, summer) | 5:00 AM | | US West (UTC-7, summer) | 2:00 AM |

Two things to watch out for:

  1. The second series of the day is approximate. LPL match days often feature two best-of-three series back to back. If IG plays second, the real start time depends on how long the first series runs — check lolesports on match day rather than trusting a fixed hour.
  2. Daylight saving shifts. China does not observe DST, so the UTC start stays constant while your local conversion moves with your own clock changes.

Series are best-of-three in the current LPL format, so budget up to three hours for a full match.

If you cannot watch live

  • Our schedule page posts results shortly after each IG series ends and previews the next fixture with its start time.
  • lolesports.com hosts spoiler-controlled VODs for every series.
  • Community English channels may post replays or highlights; check their current uploads and avoid assuming every match has a full VOD.

A note on lineups

IG carries a substitute top laner on the roster, so TheShy's start is not guaranteed until the day's lineup is confirmed. We note lineup news on the schedule page when it is officially announced — match-day confirmations usually appear an hour or two before the series begins.

A reliable match-day workflow

Start with the official LoL Esports LPL schedule, not a screenshot of last week's fixture list. Open the exact IG series and read its date, start time, and opponent. Schedules can move, and a screenshot does not update after publication. If the page displays time in your browser's zone, compare it with the time zone shown there before copying it into a calendar. A calendar entry is only as good as the source time and zone you entered.

Next, distinguish the scheduled start from the broadcast preshow. A preceding series may run long, so set a reminder before the listed start. The sample conversions above are examples, not a promise that every fixture uses 09:00 UTC.

Finally, check the lineup if you specifically want to see TheShy. An IG fixture identifies the team, not its five starters. Our schedule provides an IG-focused view; verify late changes against the official league schedule.

Time-zone conversion without guesswork

The LPL plays in China Standard Time, UTC+8. To convert a published Beijing start to UTC, subtract eight hours. For a 17:00 Beijing example, the result is 09:00 UTC. From there, apply the offset for your city on the date of the match. For example, New York is five hours behind UTC in standard time and four hours behind during daylight saving time. That same example would appear at 04:00 or 05:00 in New York, depending on the date. This arithmetic is illustrative; check the actual fixture first.

Be careful when a time conversion crosses midnight. A late evening match in China may appear on the previous calendar day in North America. Calendar apps usually handle this correctly when you enter a date, time, and named zone such as Asia/Shanghai; a copied “5 PM” without a zone does not. If you send a fixture to friends in several countries, include the UTC timestamp or a link to the official fixture rather than publishing several hand-converted times that may go stale.

Beijing stays at UTC+8 year round, while Europe and North America switch daylight saving time on different dates. Reuse the conversion method, not the table's summer numbers, when the season changes.

Choosing a stream or replay

The LoL Esports match page is the starting point for the fixture and available broadcast links. If you want English commentary, use a community channel such as LPL English and confirm that it is covering that match. Platform links and coverage can change.

If you cannot watch live, decide in advance how much of the result you want to avoid. Search snippets, social feeds, video thumbnails, and even the title of a highlights upload can reveal the winner. Open the official schedule's replay path directly, avoid the live standings page, and mute team or player keywords until you have finished. A full VOD preserves draft, lane phase, and the setup before each fight; a condensed highlight is better when you only have a few minutes but can make a game look more one-sided than it was.

For analysis, watch a series in three passes: note the draft, follow the first ten minutes of top lane, then inspect the objective fights. This is more informative than counting kills alone. In a losing lane, the top laner may still create pressure by drawing a jungle visit or holding a wave at the right moment. Our champion guide explains why different picks demand different types of attention.

FAQ

Do I need to pay to watch an LPL broadcast?

The official LoL Esports portal links to available live coverage and replays. Check the current match page for its actual viewing options. We do not ask you to buy an account, download an unofficial player, or use a mirror link.

Is the listed match time the time TheShy enters the game?

No. It is a fixture time for the team series. Broadcast segments, the preceding match, draft, and roster choices all affect when and whether he plays. Confirm the live lineup and allow extra time around the fixture.

Why does the same fixture show two dates?

Time-zone conversion can cross midnight. A match on a Beijing calendar day can fall on the preceding day in an American time zone. Compare both pages in UTC or with a named time zone before treating them as different matches.

Where do I find a full replay instead of highlights?

Start at the official schedule, select the completed series, and follow its available replay links. A full VOD retains draft and pauses; a highlight compilation is edited and may omit the context you want.

Source note: fixture and viewing availability are live information. This guide describes a verification method; always use the official schedule for the particular match you intend to watch.
